Knowing that I had only planned for 19.7 today, I turned off the alarm. The sun still had me active at 7:15. At 8:30 I was sitting on a bench outside Smokin Mo’s. I sat, uploading photos and blog posts while waiting for them to open at 11.
Smoking Mo’s is great. The value of breakfast sandwiches is crazy. The brisket was incredible. It was worth waiting for them to open.
You know that whole thing about exercising on a full stomach making you sick? Yeah, that doesn’t happen to me. Walking out with a belly full of calories felt great. The climb up Smokin’ Mo’s is quite gradual. However, there was no cruise today. The ground was constantly moving up and down and was not flat enough to form a furrow. But hey, there were views! I managed to keep my pace passing the Gren and Mashipacong huts to stay on course and arrive before nightfall.

After passing Rutherford Shelter, the trail became a little rockier with steeper up and down sections. But then I could see the High Point tower. It was a great reward for the effort. After the tower, the path descended towards the shelter. I still did it before dark, but closer to 7. I have to hurry to write this and eat, so I go to bed at 8.
