- Reed Gap (845.5) zero, transfer from Love Gap to Bowman House, Waynesboro, Va
- 0 feet rise, 0 feet of descent
After spending yesterday resting on the bed in our room without a chair, we are ready to move from Love Mountain to Waynesboro. We expected to walk Rockfish Gap. After evaluating our schedule, the weather and our next refueling distribution, the transfer made more sense and then return to Reed Gap after our Waynesboro Zero.
This refueling is particularly important since it includes new shoes for me, medicines and food for the rest of our trip to Katahdin. We wanted to be present when our giant refueling box of 40 pounds arrived.
Love Mountain to Waynesboro Transportation
With a last look at our little and cozy nest -shaped room in Love Mountain, we close the door and go to the rain.
We were ready and waiting when our transport driver arrived. Moving efficiently, we load quickly to avoid becoming more humid and respect the driver’s time, since it was out of the truck.
ARCO HOUSE
Our accommodations in Waynesboro are found in the hiking of the attic hikers of the historic Bowman House Bed and Breakfast. Fortunately, we entered the back door and took the servant’s staircase to the old rooms of the servants.
We had to go through the main hall and a floor of the main staircase. Although we bathed this morning, I felt that I needed to tiptoe and not leave a hiking land path in the beautiful old house.
Haker Haven
The hiker paradise was as lovingly appointed as the main house. The matching wing chairs upholstered in high -end fabrics flanked the Hiker room. A large table against old windows provided a view of the garden below, as well as a functional space to work and eat.
The owners brought our backpacks in an elevator while we followed the sinuous stairs of the servants. It was like living in a comfortable museum.
A supermarket walk
When we get to the city, our desire is for fresh fruits and vegetables. We also want a good bakery and butter or cheese bread. We have discovered that we prefer that groceries eat.
We walk towards the supermarket and buy the objects of our desires. We return just before the next round of storms began.
Fresh food, new shoes and old dreams
After returning with our fresh food, I tried my new paths. They were the same brand that I was wearing but designed to be more resistant. He wore a running version and these were the shoes for walkers. I wasn’t sure. One of the things I liked about the version to run of paths was the level of padding for my arthritic foot. They had less, but they looked more resistant.
With my new shoes, I prepared a huge salad for our dinner. We add ourselves with pleasure. It was a week since we had fresh food. This was divine.
Tomorrow we would solve the details of our trip at the end of Virginia and Katahdin.
