The United States of America are on course to equal their best-ever FIFA World Cup match result in their Group D opener against Paraguay at Sofi Stadium in California on Saturday.
An own goal from defender Damien Bobadilla and a brace from striker Folarin Balogun left the co-hosts 3-0 at halftime against the South American side.
The US’s biggest victory at the quadrennial event came in the tournament’s first edition in 1930, where the team defeated Belgium and Paraguay by a three-goal margin in Montevideo.
