I want to be part of that … New York !!!

In addition to the course of the cars that leave the lots between the first and the second film, a night camp in the city of Warwick was not so bad. It is not as bad as the horror stories that I have heard of those camping in boiling springs at least. In fact, when I woke up with my early alarm, I somehow felt … completely renewed. I slept like a baby!

I got up and left, and then first I went to Bagel Time, a Bagel store in the same place as yesterday’s store. It is good to be in the metropolitan area of New York … Thanks to those beautiful Bars and that great pizza. (However, my hot shot is … I don’t see anything different with New York pizza!). He grabbed a lox/butter and ate it a bit. Perfect day and got a trip from a man who was in the process of moving, and when we left, we also picked it up! Then everything worked a little. The hitch was a bit incomplete. But it’s fine. I was in a white van (number one red flag), and had a dead fox on the back (red flag number two). He also went randomly about how when he was younger, «people were well. The Civil Rights Law invented racism.» But again, it worked.

Today it was forecast as a 0% probability of rain, with a maximum of 88, as part of a huge heat wave that was dragged from the west to the east coast. So … tell me why we started walking in a storm. (Well, that’s fine, so I know it is very likely because it is very low, and then that reaches higher elevations where it is cooler, and then the collision of these two systems makes a ray. Or something. But I am not a meteorologist). Oh ok. I didn’t even bothered the rain team. It’s hot and raining, so I’m going to be wet by sweat or wet by rain. It will dry all day anyway.

Today is the day we cross New York! My cheerful three crew went through some magical paths of paths in the morning, but one was chosen and the other was water, which hid a lot of Warwick. So, we continue, eventually separating ourselves from different hiking rhythm. Thanks to my experience climbing and vibram outsols, I did the best in the rocks, so I finally surpassed everyone and I simply went out to my own rhythm. I knew there would still be rocks that came out of pa … but this is one of the most difficult struggle sections! Fate for the rain, we were doing some legitimate bouleros while we went out of New Jersey for the last time.

And that’s all! Another state below, another state here. New York! Compared to its proximity to Say Atlanta, Philadelphia or Boston, the at basically skirts of New York City. There are views of the horizon from multiple places, although on a Semi-Nube day as today I could not see it. Some people even take zeros there, as Cosmo and Tallboy did today! I spent, humming the song by Frank Sinatra, while I also faced me … a difficult rock escalation.

Finally, we get a metal bar escalation action. However, it really doesn’t make me happy. Some of the rocks here seemed that they should really be class 3 revolts of some kind, a standing slip and you could seriously hurt yourself! Oh, well, slow and constant wins the race. The rain had stopped when I reached the border, but the path remained slippery.

While I was on the ridge, I received an email from Thetendman, a blog commentator/reader, letting me know that if I was in the area, I would buy an ice cream from Bellvale Creamery. Well, wait … I’m there today! So I quickly answered an email. What a fortuitous moment was that.

On the way to Lake Greenwood, I ran out of water, and so I took water from … a quite suspicious source. I probably are not super contaminated or anything, but it was very brown. Probably thanks to tannins. I leaked double to make sure … and I knew well … but I was glad to see a water cache a few minutes later. «Choose happiness!»

At the crossroads of the path with New York route, I met Thetentman and we sat down for a while shooting the shit. I learned about his path of path, and we talked a bit about the blog and how the walk goes! Between yesterday and today, it is great to know that others are excited to share my trip with me. He gave a perfect day and headed to Bellvale, and invited us to an ice cream, where we appreciated his eyes and took a time to relax. Then he left each one with a pair of damn socks! Sweet.

We took the rest of the day at the Lake Lodging Motel. It was a picturesque room, but enough to meet two tired hiker needs! Mainly shower, wash clothes and prepare to face New York. Although today’s weather did not turn out to be a heat wave, it is not known what the future will bring, right?

After washing my clothes, washing the store and several other tasks, we went out to eat at the premises, a place of Asian fusion nearby. Jim, the owner of the shelter, led us and gave us a mini tour of the city. Greenwood Lake is a nice town near New York! Which … unfortunately, it also means New York prices. Oh ok. I can’t win them all. The food itself was delicious.

I grabbed my lunch for tomorrow from a nearby Cumberland, and then we find persuasion for a moment. His tramily. He had found the perfect day hat that fell somewhere on the road today, so he was kind to help him return it.

Then … I spent the rest of the night watching game 7 of the NBA finals. I will never do something as wild as Marion’s day and do 21 miles again in 7 hours for basketball. But, if it’s close, why not? The game itself was really good! But now I’m tired …
