Crysencio Summerville scored his first international goal for the Netherlands in their FIFA World Cup Group F match against Japan at Dallas Stadium, Arlington, on Sunday.
Summerville made his World Cup debut despite earning his first senior cap in the pre-tournament friendly against Algeria earlier this month.
After starting for the Dutch team against Japan, Summerville became part of a select number of players from the Netherlands who started a World Cup match this century with no more than two previous international matches.
The 24-year-old found rich form in the Premier League with West Ham United, but could not stop the side from being relegated.
