Sweden started their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign in style by beating Tunisia 5-1 in their Group F match at Monterrey Stadium on Monday.
Yasin Ayari opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area before Alexander Isak doubled the lead after half an hour.
Tunisia appeared to have found a way back after Omar Rekik’s glancing header found the back of the net in the closing stages of the first half.
However, Viktor Gyokeres scored a third 14 minutes into the second period before substitute Mattias Svanberg scored 18 seconds after coming on.
Ayari struck the final blow in stoppage time with another thunderous strike from outside the area.
