Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has ended speculation over his future by signing a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Premier League club until 2031.
The Spain international had attracted the attention of several top clubs during the season but has committed his future to Spurs after agreeing new terms.
Securing Porro’s signature is a big boost for manager Roberto De Zerbi, who guided Tottenham to safety after the club narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last season.
“Pedro is a very important player for us, who has consistently shown that he can influence games in both defensive and attacking situations,” said De Zerbi.
«In addition to his technical quality, I also like his mentality. Every day he wants to work, learn and improve, and these are the qualities that help players reach the highest level.»
“This new contract is great news for everyone at the club. We believe in Pedro and I look forward to continuing to work with him and helping him achieve even more in the years to come.”
In a video on Tottenham’s Instagram account, Porro, who is currently with Spain at the World Cup, said: «Hi Spurs fans. I’m so happy to sign a new contract. I can’t wait to see you next season. Come on, Spurs!»
Porro signed for Sporting CP in 2023 and has established himself as one of Tottenham’s key players. The 25-year-old has made 152 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing 26 assists. Last season he made 47 appearances in all competitions.
