FIFA World Cup 2026: England’s Tino Livramento ruled out due to calf injury, Trevoh Chalobah named as replacement

England defender Tino Livramento will miss the World Cup due to a calf injury. Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah will take his place in the squad. It marks a nervous run-up to England’s World Cup season, with the team playing the opening match against Croatia on June 17.

Livramento has been a valuable asset on both sides of the defense and could be in line for a tournament debut on Wednesday. Reece James, Djed Spence and Nico O’Reilly are the other full-backs in Tuchel’s squad.

Chalobah has been capped just once by England, making his debut in a 1-3 friendly defeat to Senegal a year ago.

Livramento had a limited run in the Premier League for Newcastle United due to a spate of injuries, including two knee injuries that kept him out of the field for two months. A hamstring problem followed in January, ruling him out of 15 games. In April, a thigh injury forced him to miss the remainder of the domestic season.

Livramento will return to Newcastle for his rehabilitation.
