The referees will wear a special pink kit during the 2026 FIFA World Cup match Saudi Arabia-Uruguay at Seattle Stadium on Monday.
The match will be officiated by Italian referee Maurizio Mariani, who will officiate the quadrennial event for the first time.
Why do the referees wear a pink jersey?
The match officials for the meeting between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay will wear a pink jersey in tribute to the host city of Miami.
“Officials will honor their host city by wearing pink flamingo jerseys for Uruguay versus Saudi Arabia on Monday, June 15 – a nod to the flamingos, Art Deco architecture and famous Miami sunsets that make the color iconic here,” an official statement from FIFA said.
