England captain Harry Kane scored from the spot to give England the lead against Croatia in their FIFA World Cup Group L match in Dallas on Wednesday.
After Luka Modric fouled Noni Madueke in the ninth minute and was awarded the penalty, Kane missed at the first attempt as Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic went to his left to save the shot. However, the penalty was taken again.
After checking by the video assistant referee, the referee determined that the Croatian custodian was out of his line and had an advantage in cutting the angle of the shot.
According to the rules, the goalkeeper must have at least one foot on the goal line when the striker comes into contact with the ball.
Kane was on the spot again for Livakovic’s foul, stayed with the same team to beat Livakovic and scored his ninth World Cup goal.
