Why doesn’t Harry Maguire play for England against Croatia in FIFA World Cup 2026?

Thomas Tuchel’s England will kick off their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign when they play Croatia at the Dallas Stadium in Arlington on Wednesday.

Tuchel has made some bold choices with his selection for the tournament in the US, Canada and Mexico.

One of those calls was not to bring in Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire, who has 66 caps for the Three Lions.

Maguire featured in England’s friendlies in March but was left out by Tuchel as he opted to remain with the players who were part of the World Cup qualifying run.
