Who is Michal Sadilek, goalscorer for Czech Republic vs South Africa in FIFA World Cup 2026?


Michal Sadilek scored the opening goal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup match between the Czech Republic and South Africa in Atlanta on Thursday.

The 27-year-old has made 37 appearances for his country and plays for Slavia Prague. Thursday’s goal was only the second of his international career.

Sadilek rose through the ranks in Dutch football, playing for the youth teams of PSV Eindhoven. He then moved to Twente in 2022 before switching to his home country in 2025.

Last season he scored two goals and assisted five in 39 appearances. For Twente, the team he has played with most, he recorded seven goals and 14 assists in 122 appearances.
