Chap. 31 – Serenity and shots

It’s been a whole month on the Pacific Crest Trail! Time sure flies, but we are making the most of it. Also, I skipped posting yesterday to have an extra day of buffer. Turns out I have less consistent cell service than I thought here!

We had a beautiful zero day today in Agua Dulce! I had a cold brew coffee to start the day which was amazing. Freshly brewed coffee never tasted so good. Boostie and I spent the first part of the day resupplying and eating breakfast. I loved relaxing at the Oasis, especially during the heat of the day. It’s been really hot lately, but we found the perfect place to hide from the heat.

I had the best shower experience I have ever had, possibly ever. Not even just on the road, ever! The water pressure and temperature were perfect and I actually felt clean afterwards. That’s weird after just one shower! Boostie and I were planning to do laundry after showering, but all the machines were in use. Instead, we headed to Terra Dulce for the hiker burger! The hiker burger was the regular bacon cheeseburger with added avocado and egg. It filled us up, for sure!

We had taken both bikes to get around town, so after a late lunch we went to the hardware store. I needed a stamp to send my cousin a graduation card. After the hardware store, Boostie and I went to the grocery store. I was planning to get beer, but they didn’t sell it there. I felt really thirsty when I got there, so I bought five drinks: Fanta Orange, coconut water, Gatorade, La Croix, and an Arizona green tea.

Back at the oasis, Boostie and I were finally able to start doing laundry. Shortly after starting, the rest of our group headed to the Mexican restaurant for dinner. I wasn’t very hungry, but as soon as we finished doing laundry, we headed there to at least buy margaritas.

Boostie had a lime margarita on the rocks and I had a frozen strawberry margarita. I ended up feeling hungry enough for another meal, so I chose combination number one with taco, beans, and rice. The portions were huge! Once most of the group was gone, leaving Boostie, Marathon, Coyote and me, they fired four shots into the house. The drinks were called Mexican sweets. They had tequila, watermelon brandy, a splash of hot sauce and a tajine rim. They tasted amazing!

We all finished the day relaxing at the Oasis. I spent most of my time in the shaded area with the vaporizers running. The music playing from the speakers was mostly Bob Marley, and I soaked myself in Epsom salt while sitting there. I felt so calm and cozy!
