Brazil started their 2026 FIFA World Cup season with a 1-1 draw against Morocco in the Group C match in New Jersey, but bounced back to record a 3-0 victory over Haiti in their second meeting.
Morocco defeated Scotland 1-0 in the second group match to take top spot in the group before Brazil overtook the Atlas Lions thanks to a better goal difference.
The Selecao will play their last match against Scotland on June 24. A win in that match will help the team progress to the round of 32 with seven points, regardless of Morocco’s result. Morocco can qualify as group winners if they have a better goal difference after the last match against Haiti.

If Brazil shares points with Scotland, the team will receive five points and qualify as the second-placed team if Morocco wins against Haiti.
Should Scotland upset the South American team, both teams will end the group stage with the same number of points. In that situation, Scotland will qualify as the second-placed team due to the head-to-head advantage over Brazil.
Brazil can also qualify with four points if they manage to finish as one of the eight best third-placed teams in all groups. If Ancelotti’s side fail to beat Haiti and lose to Scotland, they could still finish third, but are unlikely to finish in the top eight in that scenario.
