Real Madrid denies interest in Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise

Spanish giants Real Madrid said on Saturday that they have not had any contact with Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise over a possible transfer.

The France international, currently at the World Cup, has been linked with Madrid by Spanish media, with reports that Los Blancos are considering making a bid in excess of 200 million euros ($230 million).

“In light of the information published in various media about an alleged interest of our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid would like to make it clear that they have not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned footballer, his representatives or people close to him,” Madrid said in a statement.

Madrid said it has an “excellent institutional relationship” with Bayern and said the reports “do not correspond to reality”.

Olise joined from Crystal Palace in 2024 for around €60 million and starred as Vincent Kompany’s team won the Bundesliga and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Real Madrid, who appointed Portuguese veteran Jose Mourinho as coach earlier in June, have already made a flurry of signings this summer.

Madrid signed Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer and spent 55 million euros on Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella.

After two consecutive seasons without lifting a major trophy, record 15-time Champions League winners Madrid are overhauling their squad.
