US President Donald Trump will be present to present the World Cup final trophy at the New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on Tuesday.
The global football boss has built an increasingly friendly relationship with the US president and awarded him the first edition of his co-created FIFA peace prize in December, as Trump sought the sport’s megawatt spotlight.
«We will enjoy the final together with the president and of course hand over the trophy to the winner together,» Infantino said on the television program «Fox and Friends.»
FIFA said it had no comment other than Infantino’s comments on television.

Trump drew boos and cheers when he presented the trophy to Club World Cup winner Chelsea last year and stood in the middle of the team during the trophy lift, to the confusion of some players, at the same stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Since then, he has attended the US Open men’s tennis final, Ryder Cup golf and the NBA Finals in the greater New York metropolitan area he once called home.
The World Cup is underway in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with New York New Jersey set to host the final of the eight matches.
