Miami weather update for Scotland vs Brazil: Will rain, thunder and weather affect FIFA World Cup Group C match?

Brazil will take on Scotland in Miami on Wednesday in the final round of Group C at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team only needs one point to secure a place in the knockouts. Scotland currently have three points and need to win to qualify safely and not be dependent on third place.

However, the game is in danger of being postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions. About three hours before the 6:00 PM local time kick-off, Miami experienced heavy rainfall.

According to AccuWeather, the weather forecast for Miami is: «Partial sunshine with a few thunderstorms late this afternoon; lightning from nearby storms could impact the football game.»

What happens if Scotland vs Brazil is postponed due to rain?

This will not be the first match to be affected by bad weather. The Group I match between France and Senegal was also halted for 130 minutes due to rain in Philadelphia.

According to safety guidelines, a match is only temporarily suspended if there is a threat of lightning within a radius of 8 miles. If there are reports of such strikes, the match will be stopped and only resumed after a period of 30 minutes has elapsed from the last reported strike.

If the weather does not allow the match to be played on Wednesday, it will be postponed to Thursday.
