Today started with the relatively light and easy goal of 7 miles before 10am I am pleased to report that food and rest eliminated my fatigue so I arrived ahead of schedule at our designated meeting place.
While I was waiting, a wonderful woman, Valerie, came by to refill the water tank. After helping carry the jugs, we chatted for a while. The choir he sings in opens for Yoyo Ma in a few weeks. I am continually amazed by all the people I meet here.
Shortly after, Kate arrived and gave me a two-day supply. Added two great meals to my stock. After saying goodbye to the trail angel, Kate and I headed out onto the trail. Since she has a long trip back, we plan to walk to Goose Pond together. Then she would return to her car and I would continue.

The current trail ran along and through many swampy areas, often flooded by beaver dams. I really enjoyed the change of scenery. The views are nice, but it’s good to have variety. Goose Pond seemed like a great place to spend the night. The caretaker was welcoming and told me there is a pancake breakfast. But this wasn’t my stop, so I had lunch with Kate and we parted ways.

I stopped at October Mountain and it’s another night I’ll have the shelter to myself!
