Canada kicked off the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against South Africa at Los Angeles Stadium on Sunday.
The 23rd edition of the World Cup will be hosted by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico between June 11 and July 19, with all three countries advancing to the second round.
Although the US and Mexico are playing in their home stadiums, Canada will play its knockout match away in the US.
Why is Canada playing in the US instead of Vancouver?
The World Cup is designed in such a way that the group toppers from the co-host countries play their matches at home.
As a result, Mexico and the US, who both topped their respective groups, will play at Mexico City Stadium and San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.
Meanwhile, Canada finished second in Group B and will therefore play the match away in Los Angeles.
