France vs Sweden player ratings: Mbappe, Barcola on target in easy French win

France showed off its attacking firepower as they edged past Sweden 3-0 in New Jersey on Tuesday to advance to the last 16 round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring just before half-time before Michael Olise set up Bradley Barcola in the 65th minute to double the lead over the runners-up from the previous edition.

Olise set up another goal for Mbappe in the 74th minute as France once again recalled their credentials as title challengers. The second goal also put Mbappé level with Lionel Messi on six goals in the tournament.

Despite all the help given to his teammates, Olise was unable to end the evening with an own goal. In the first half he hit the post with an outrageous bicycle kick.
