Q: Why did you choose to coach the Mohun Bagan Super Giant team?

A: Mohun Bagan is much more than a football club: it is an institution with a remarkable history, a winning culture and one of the most passionate fan bases in Asia.

Are you happy with the squad so far this season?

Yes, I believe we have a strong and talented team with a good balance between experience and quality. Of course, every coach is always looking for ways to improve, but my focus is on maximizing the potential of the players we have. Success comes not only from individual talent, but also from creating a unified team with the right mentality, discipline and dedication.

MBSG has a huge fan base with high expectations. How do you plan to manage the pressure of their expectations?

There is a saying, “Pressure is a privilege.” Expectations are always high at big clubs, and that’s exactly how it should be. The passion of Mohun Bagan’s supporters is one of the club’s greatest strengths. It is our responsibility to earn their trust every day through hard work, professionalism and performance that reflects the values of this great club. We can’t promise victories every week, but we can promise a team that competes with courage, discipline and the desire to win every game.

In your coaching career have you managed a club with a fanbase as passionate as the MBSG fanbase?

I have been fortunate to work at clubs with demanding supporters who expected success, but Mohun Bagan is unique. Even before I arrived, I understood the emotional bond between the club and its fans. You feel that this is more than football; it is identity, pride and tradition that make this challenge very special, and I am happy to experience that atmosphere first hand.

You may have to play the Kolkata Derby within a few weeks of taking charge. What is your idea of the Derby?

Football is based on great rivalries, and the Kolkata Derby is one of the biggest and most historic in the world. I know what it means for the supporters, for the players and everyone associated with the club. The best way to prepare for such a competition is not just with emotions, but with discipline and confidence. We will respect our opponents, but we will also play with courage and the ambition expected of Mohun Bagan.

What will be your main goal with the MBSG team?

When you coach Mohun Bagan, the aim is always to compete for every trophy. We respect what has already been achieved, because winning consecutive championships is never easy. It is now our responsibility to maintain these standards and continue to build a team that plays attractive, disciplined and winning football. Every season is a new challenge, and we start with humility, hard work and the ambition to bring more success to the club.

What will your message be for the fans?

To all Mohun Bagan supporters, I know how much this club means to you, and I understand the responsibility that comes with wearing these colors. Together with the management, my staff and the players, we will work every day to make you proud. We need your energy because football is always stronger when the team and its supporters move as one.
