Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana was knocked out in the first half of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 against the USA at Seattle Stadium on Monday.
Onana, who returned to the starting line-up for the knockout match, appeared to take a blow to his right knee. The Aston Villa player pinched his knee in pain before being taken off for Hans Vanaken in the 20th minute.
Towards the end of the match, Onana was seen on the sidelines on crutches, suggesting his campaign may be over.
Striker Romelu Lukaku showed off a Belgian shirt with Onana’s name on it in tribute after scoring Belgium’s fourth goal.
Belgium defeated the US 4-1 to book a place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
