Copa America Feenina complaints of Brazilian power change in warm-up rules

Conmebol announced on Friday that it has adjusted the pre-match procedures at the Women’s Copa America in Ecuador to warm up players on the field, after criticism from Brazilian players and coaching staff.

«From now on, in addition to keepers who already had a warm-up period of 15 minutes on the field, Outfield players can also heat up on the field for the same duration,» said the South American football board body to Reuters.

«This decision was made after a detailed assessment of the condition of the play surfaces in the stadiums of the competition so far, and after he had taken into account feedback from some participating teams.»

Tournament organizers had excluded outfield players from warming up on the field to maintain the play surface, with each stadium organized two games in a day during the group stage.

Brazilian captain Marta, midfielder Aryes and head coach Arthur Elias expressed their frustration after their dominant group win on Bolivia, because both teams were forced to warm up in a shared room of about 15 square meters that smelled of paint.

They also criticized the limitations after their tournament opener against Venezuela, and said they were unable to properly assess Kerolin’s fitness, which ultimately led to the Spits of Manchester City being put aside.

Defending champion Brazil Tops Group B with two victories and will be confronted with Paraguay on Tuesday.
