Prior to a pre-season-friendly on Saturday, players of Manchester United and Leeds saw a minute of silence to pay tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.
Jota and his brother Andre died tragically after a fatal car accident earlier this month in the city of Zamora in northwestern Spain.
United coach Ruben Amorim, together with the Portuguese players of the team in Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes Anfield, had visited on July 14 to lay flowers and to pay tribute to the deceased brothers.
Jota, 28, had his best professional stint in Liverpool and won the FA Cup and League Cup under Manager Jurgen Klopp before he became victorious in the Premier League under Arne Slot in the 2024/25 season. He was also part of the Portugal team that won the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025.
Andre, 26, was also a professional football player, who edited his trade in Portuguese Second-Division side Penaphile.
