Wafcon 2024: Ghana defeats Algeria on penalties, sets semi -final against Morocco

The Ghanaian goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan came up with the opportunity when the Black Queens Algeria defeated 4-2 on penalties to reach the final of the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations in Morocco on Saturday.

Konlan, who plays for Saudi Premier League side Al Hilal, saved attempts by Marine Defeur and Ines Belloumou before Evelyn Badu converted from the place.

The Black Queens will meet host Morocco to continue their pursuit of a first Wafcon title. They have reached the last three times, with the last appearance 19 years ago.

Ghana started the match aggressive and Stella Nyameekye almost almost gave her the lead when she found it just in the 27th minute. However, the goal was removed by VAR for an off-side in the structure.
