Ladies Euro 2025: exceeded Germany beats French to penetrate semi -final

Germany conquered France on penalties and reached the semi -final of the European Championship for women despite playing almost the entire game – and extra time – with 10 players.

A drama-filled game ended 1-1 on Saturday and then Germany won the shootout 6-5 thanks to the heroic deeds of Ann-Katrin Berger, who saved two shots and sent her own place.

There were tears of joy of the German players, after perhaps one of the greatest examples in the football history of deep digging to defy the opportunities.

«Everyone was in each other’s arms,» said Germany -Coach Christian Wück. “Everyone was celebrating; everyone was happy that this hard performance led us to victory.

«I can only say it again and again: I am so proud of the team for the way they took this challenge against an opponent who demanded everything from us. That was incredible.»

Germany, which offers for a record-expanding ninth European championship title, will be confronted on Wednesday with the World Cup winner Spain in Zurich.

That seemed unlikely after less than 13 minutes when Germany -midfielder Kathrin Hendrich pulled the hair of France Captain Griedge Mbock and released a straight red card.

Grace Geyoro converted the resulting penalty, but Sjoeeke Nusken led her team level only 10 minutes later.

Although he had a numeric disadvantage in the second half in the second half, Germany could have taken the lead with his own fine, but the goalkeeper of France Pauline Peyraud-Magnin saved Nusken’s spot kick.

Nusken scored the last place of Germany in the shootout.

For the second consecutive game, Germany was forced to play the most of the game with 10 players Carlotta Wamser was sent by Sweden in the last group match shortly before the break in the 1-4 Thrash.

This time it happened earlier.

A free kick in France was led wide, but the video assistant referee saw Hendrich’s pony tail of Mbock.

Geyoro stepped up and, despite the sounding jers from the wall of Germany fans behind the goal, the penalty sent strongly in the middle.

Germany knew that with a player it had to take full advantage of his set pieces.

Klara Buhl drove in a corner and Nusken ran to the nearby pole to meet with a tlp rod that ran in the far corner of the net.

Despite the players’ advantage, France had difficulty imposing itself, although it had excluded two goals for off-side on either side of the break.

Germany was given a chance to take a remarkable lead when France -defender Selma Bacha gave away an unnecessary penalty when she stumbled Jules brand near the name rule.

But goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin of France saved Nusken’s place in another failed fine at Euro 2025.

The best save of the night and perhaps even from the tournament was in extra time of her German counterpart. A backward header from Germany captain Janina Minge had Berger refurbished to scoop it off the line with an amazing stop with one hand to save the blushing of her teammate.

Melvine Malard sent a long -distance screamer that poured off the bar with almost the last touch of the 120 minutes.

Berger saved the first penalty she encountered from Amel Majri, but Les Bleue was back level when the German Sara Däbritz hit the bar with her penalty.

Berger took the next place, the fifth of Germany, and left her counterpart without a chance. Shortly thereafter, the keeper saved again, this time to deny Alice Sombath and spark the celebrations of Germany.

The result ended the 11-match extraction streak of France, because the quarterfinals remain a stumbling block for Les Bleues, which are now eliminated in the quarterfinals in seven of the past nine world cups or euro.

«I don’t think we have a psychological problem. We have opponents of quality and it is becoming increasingly difficult,» said France -coach Laurent Bonadei, who took the lead in August.

«But I think my players gave us hope; Rome was not built one day.»
