FIFA president Gianni Infantino offered the support of the administrative body to the English defender Jess Carter after she revealed that she had been the target of racist abuse during Euro 2025.
Carter, who is black, announced on Sunday that she is stepping for the duration of the social media tournament.
The 27-year-old started with all four matches of England at the tournament, but struggled on Thursday in his quarterfinals victory, while the Lionesses gave two goals in the first half.
CEO of the football club Mark Bullingham condemned the abuse and said that the FA is in contact with the British police, who is in contact with the relevant social media platform, to «ensure that those responsible for this hate crime are brought to court.»

The administrative body of the European Football UEFA, Carter’s Club Gotham FC, the National Women’s Soccer League and the Lionesses have all made statements to support the player.
Carters teammate Lotte Wubben-Moy said in an Instagram post that she was planning to also come from social media.
