Nepal Women’s Team Coach Patrick De Wilde resigns after differences with Federation

The Belgian Patrick de Wilde has resigned as head coach of the Nepal Women’s National Team after having differences in opinion with the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

The 61-year-old was appointed by the Anfa in June. His first major assignment at the side was the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifications, in which Nepal lost in a decisive fixture in a decisive match in Uzbekistan. In the other qualifications, his side Laos and Sri Lanka had comfortably defeated and scored a combined 17 goals against the two teams without giving up.

Shortly after the qualifications, De Wilde came to the media to express his frustrations about how the federation operated and interfered in his work.

Sportstar understands that the Belgian pro-License-Fast Coach will not continue its collaboration with Anfa on differences in their vision with regard to the future development of women’s football in the country.

Anfa had announced that De Wilde’s term of office would last a year.

This was the first Stint of the Belgian to coach a ladies team. In his career of more than 20 years, he coached clubs in Ukraine, China, Austria and Tunisia and also coached national teams such as Algeria, Hungary and Lithuania.

He recently helped the Chinese Under-23 team and was appointed as Nepal Super League-Outfit Kathmandu Rayzrs FC head coach, technical director and International Scout.
