Homework
During the past year, especially in recent months, I have been preparing the preparation for the path. This meant doing and editing a list of changes, discovering what I should buy new and what I could use what I already had. In addition, investigating what the trial will imply, especially in terms of land in Washington.
I also made more backpacking trips than usual this spring, including some solo trips, as preparation for the new team and be alone.
Then, in the few weeks prior to my start date, I prepared some replenishment boxes to send me to my first stops in Washington (Harts Pass, Stehekin, Stevens Pass).
Finally, the day was almost here, whether he was ready or not.
July 0-8
I woke up around 5 in the morning, ready for a long travel day!
The first section of the day was to drive a few hours to the airport with my parents and then get on my first flight, to Seattle.
For this flight, I didn’t want to check my backpack, I felt very cautious knowing that basically my life has in it during the next weeks and months. However, a problem with this was that I had my hiking posts with me, and I was concerned to take them through security. Then, my bag was marked by them and was taken aside. However, the day before, he had sought the official regulations of the TSA, and on his website he said that he could bring posts that are lit through security. He had small tip covers, so the end was blunt. TLDR: I had to show two TSA officers and two of their supervisors their own website, but I obtained the posts successfully! Hurrah!
I arrived in Seattle in mid -morning, and then I arrived at my second flight of the day to Wenatchee. I went out to Wenatchee on a small plane early in the afternoon and then stood 25 minutes later, where I was a 95 ° suffocating.
During these flights, unfortunately, I realized that my backpack was tearing some. Some tears along the seams around the lower part and the sides, so I remarked them with adhesive tape (very useful to have!) And I expected the best. This bag has shattered once before in a similar place, and I think it is because my bear can is wide enough to strain the stitches. I hope it remains united and works for at least a while. I can always get a new backpack if necessary, although I am quite emotionally connected to it. 🙂
Then I took a taxi from the airport to the Columbia Transit Station in the city center to get on my first bus. I arrived in Chelan, where I arrived at the second bus of the day, which took me to Pateros. In Pateros I got on the third bus of the day that took me to Twisp, and then I arrived at the final bus to Mazama, where they left me just out of the lions of the lions.
I entered the lion of the lions, an incredible shelter, around 6:45 pm, and met some paths of trails and other hikers, one of whom gave me a tour. There was a community dinner, Carnitas Tacos, so after relaxing a little, I ate with the rest of the group that stayed there. I met a hiker named Josh who is also from Berkeley, it’s a small world! I also talked to a couple who was going to take people to the trial the next morning, so I planned to go with them at 7 am. Then I configured my store and thus, I got some fuel from the hiker box (very abundant!) And organized my disorder of a bag.
I went to bed a little late, but had a day of successful general,
