Day 18
Home: Snoqualmie Pass, Mile 259.5
END: TENTSITE, MILLA 271.2
Walked miles: 11.7 miles
It’s time to return to the way! When I woke up this morning, I felt very renewed. Instead of trying to start early, I stayed in my room until I visited the end of last minute tasks and publish some blogs. When it was time to leave, I went to the Laconia market to have coffee and some last -minute Internet businesses.
Around 12:30, I returned to the path, but too soon I stopped again. This time for a great reason. Magic of the path! A trip called Soft Serve was waiting for her friend Punisher to get out of the trails and have a lot of candy for hikers. Punisher is trying the triple crown of the calendar year this year, so it is moving fast! Of course, I was caught by the magic of the path and soon another hiker named Sun arrived a lot and joined us.
He had a cold coca -refreshing clementines, more than enough Brownies and many more. We chatted for at least an hour on the path while waiting for Punisher. When he arrived, he didn’t look worse for wear, although he had already made 23 miles that day and it wasn’t even 2 in the afternoon. After talking, it turns out that we crossed the paths on the CDT in 2021. I had been walking with Darwin going to Sobo and Darwin, while I was in the restaurant with his hiking companions, he bought me and my hiking partner in Butte, Mt. Little World!
He didn’t want to impose his meeting too much, in addition to Punisher was at a schedule, so I said goodbye and went along the way. It was half the afternoon and was hot! Fortunately, he didn’t spend much time before he was in the trees and miles became soft. I think this is the beginning of truly cruise and it shows!
Soon, I met Sun and some hikers who had briefly gone through the magic of the path. They were planning to camp where we wanted to camp, so we made a deal to gather.
Above and below the path took me, although the UOS were not too steep and they were not the low. However, there was a 500 feet climb near the end that was so steep that it brought memories of the AT. Fortunately, it didn’t last too long.
I met the sun and then walked half a mile and found the other two hikers. I was very grateful to have a small company tonight. It does not seem that it will last long since the other hikers walk faster than me, but at least we could hang out tonight. One of the hikers has its triple crown and is on his fourth trip on the PCT. Wow! Of course, we had to talk about all the paths and their experiences, which I really enjoyed listening. I love it when I can talk about a trace!
Too soon, it was time to enter. The forest is calm tonight.
And that is a day in the life of a PCT Sobo hiker!
