Like a fly in my tea, or the New York DMV …

Through childhood it is the definitive form of independence, in a way. You are living, exactly what you need on your back. Nothing less, and, thanks to reducing that annoying base weight, nothing more. No one but yourself to establish your schedule, and no one is your boss but yourself.

… that is until your parents intervene. It is great to have them close, yes, and it is great to take a zero. But it definitely feels like a «independent» life break to be limited by a car and the whims of schedules that are not hikers. Ah whatever.

After sleeping as much as possible, we got up quite late and have breakfast at the Howard Johnson where we stayed. Since it is the breakfast breakfast of the chain, I expected it to be bad, but surprisingly had some outstanding aspects. Hard eggs, gofres and all bagels. He even had a Bagel cutter!

Then we made a trip to the nearby laundry, where I put on my clothes. At this point, I just noticed that my shirt gets dirty about 10 seconds after starting walking no matter what. So it is not as if I really care about the looks at this point … it is exactly what it is.

On the way to laundry, I could see Mount Graylock. Uugh, I still feel weird to see tomorrow’s path in advance. Do you feel like a spoiler? On the other hand, I’ve been here before …

We conducted to Berkshire Outfitters so that it could obtain a small resupply of soap, Deet and some socks of socks. Later I learned that in Williamstown, the city in which we actually stayed, there is an outfitter, but in Farout it is listed as a grocery store. That depends on me for not investigating better, it is also more more oriented to hikers. However, Berkshire Outfitters had everything he really needed, apart from perhaps an expert in shoes. I had not realized, but although it is supposed to be the last of Lone Peak is the same as Olympus, it is still narrower. Of course it is. Thanks Altra.

Walmart was the following for a four -day food transport. That’s right, four! I have not done so much time since I entered the smakies. After seeing how many days in the city I took in June, I feel that I should be there for a longer time. While there is a refueling option in Bennington, the news on the street is that the locals have stopped picking up hikers, since there has been an increase in discouraged people. It is a shame. I took some food … Maybe too much food. But we will learn to live with that. After all we left Harpers Ferry!

With my finished clothes, we have a moment to download everything in the motel room, and then we go out to the Museum of Contemporary Art, or Moca! Actually, it has been something in my desire list for a while, so it is good to do it while I am on my way. First we ate a house in house, which was … acceptable. It was a bit expensive and a little dry, but it is what it is. Definitely not somewhere that I would recommend for hikers, the portions were No kind of hikers. But finally, entrance to the museum.

And all I can say is … wow. Art still moves me. Actually, it is quite difficult to immerse yourself in the mentality of appreciating contemporary art, given the «out there», but I still spent a fantastic time. One of the best things was to learn that one of my musical heroes, Laurie Anderson, actually studied here. Listen to your stories, see your works under a new light … we become. Art is beautiful in how deliberate it should be. The photo capture time of the photos, art captures the intention.

When the museum closed, I finally did my tasks of excursion at the hotel. I cleaned my store’s leaves, opted my food and washed my things. My pot and my cold jug have to be impeccable now … since we are not going to the city for a while. I also put the wedges on my shoes and tried to love them well. Hopefully the lonely peaks are going well. I probably need the large size, but I didn’t know at that time. The madness of ordering online! The worst comes to the worst, I have some friends in a week. I hope these shoes at least last so long …

For dinner, we made a trip to Blue Mango, a Thai place in Williamstown that was decent. Then ice cream to fill me again in all those fats that I am missing. And … bed. Being with parents who are not taking excrement schedules means that my bedtime has already changed. Too bad we get up early tomorrow.
