The participation of England Lauren James in the Euro 2025 final on Sunday against Spain is in doubt after she injured her ankle during the semi -final victory over Italy.
If the 23-year-old does not recover on time, her absence would be a huge blow to the ruling champion.
«She is still recovering,» said coach Sarina Wiegman in England on Friday. «She does things on the field and we have two more days, so we’re going to give her time. Don’t know it yet (if she will be ready for it), but that’s what we go for – 23 players available for the game on Sunday.»
James has nine goals in 33 performances for England, including two in his 4-0 win over the Netherlands in the group stage in Switzerland.

«You give LJ the ball and you know that everyone is going to run through everyone and try to shoot her,» teammate Georgia Stanway said earlier in the tournament.
James only injured her just before half -time on Tuesday and looked at the second half of the couch with an ice suit on her ankle.
