One day – The Trek

Day 95-15 miles today from lookout to Thistle Hill Shylter, 3,700 feet high, 4,400 feet down, to Milla 1742 (mm) marker (mm)

The watchman

It was cold this morning. He felt good in my sleeping bag and still didn’t want to go out into the cold. So I put on my fans and merina wool socks that I have taken but that I have not used in months. I don’t have much beyond that for warmer clothes. Today I only have 15 miles and elevation of 3,700 feet.

The observation was a rustic cabin with fireplace and windows. I had an Loft area too. There was a ladder with the widow’s walk at the top of the roof. From the widow’s walk, you could see spectacular views. It is so good that this private property allows us to use this shelter.

Last night there were two other people at the first glance. The wind blow strongly on this crest.

Paresteria

Parestergia is what I had according to my research on Google. My thigh was numb. LFCN nerve compression can cause this condition. Yesterday he was very numb and was painful.

After investigating my research, I decided yesterday that I would keep my hip belt. It was hard for my shoulders, especially with the heavy weight of the refueling food and then the heavy transport of water. But I wanted to see if the belt was causing numbness. Today the numbness was minimal.

Tomorrow great

I left around 7 in the morning this morning and the other two ladies were still in the attic. It was a quite cold morning almost cold. I haven’t felt cold as probably Tennessee. It really feels good to move. I really want to heat in the first climb.

So far it is a partially cloudy day almost resembles some dark clouds that could fall some rain, but it is not supposed to do so.

The forests of yesterday night were dark and mysterious. This morning the forests are dark again. The sun has not yet shown its rays in the forest.

Challenging day

Yesterday was an extremely challenging day not as defiant as the miserable day I had about a week ago, but it is still a challenge. First, I had to leave the comfort of a hostel, in a pleasant and comfortable bed, in a small fresh city with a two -door brewery.

Yesterday I started the day with two bee bites. And then I had an extremely heavy backpack and pushed long miles and a lot of elevation. My backpack was full of food from my refueling. And then, at the final climb yesterday, I had to add 6 lb of water to take me through the last night and a good one today until the next water source.

But today is a new day. Like life, right? A day maybe the day more shit that you had in a long time. A day in which everything seems difficult and seems to go wrong. And then everything changes as always, nothing is permanent. Even bad times.

I know, but there will be difficult times as always in life similar to the path. But you are going through these difficult times and good times prevail again. That is a path of path that I hope to get out of the way.

Look around

The path was really easy until now. Only a small climb but many very easy grades with not too many obstacles. After leaving a dirt road, the wound of the path in parallel to an old rock wall. That always makes me smile

Today so far it is like an autumn day and if I stop moving, I really resigned a little. I just noticed that there are no flies and flies buzzing my head. It is surprising that I have not even thought about this until now.

With mosquitoes, I always have to look down to prevent them from immersing themselves in my eyes. But today there are no mosquitoes. I can take the time to look up and look more.

The tree falls into the forest

I just fell into another pine forest with huge pine trees. The path was quite level and covered with pine needles. It was like a soft feather bed under my feet.

Looking up, I noticed the ruins of some old structure. It didn’t look like a house, but it looked more like the ruins of a mill of some kind.

Walking, I heard a crunchy noise as if a large limb were about to let go. I scanned up and I couldn’t say exactly what it was, but I hurried further. Very short time later, I heard a crash in the forest behind me.

He felt like a very special magical morning when the sun risen. He feels good and warm for once instead of hot and scorching. Many months have passed since I stopped and enjoyed the sun simply to absorb the heat of the sun’s rays in my body.

Never leave yourself on a bad day

Yesterday, when I talked to two ladies, I was sharing the watchman, we talked about the path and how some people have resigned. I tried to explain that after all the emotion of the first part of the path and then the most recent heavy work of insects, heat, rain and green tunnel sold out the fun of the walk.

She asked me what keeps me going. I said I really want to see this. I also told him that he never left him on a bad day. Today it is definitely a good day until now.

One day – The Trek

Farm stand

In approximately 3 hours I had already walked 6 miles. I was being hungry. A small road is coming and supposedly goes to a farm.

The path lowered a steep crest and then left the forest to a farm field. The undulating green hills reminded me of sections of northern Virginia.

On the edge of the farm, it was not too far from a road walk. Inside they had all kinds of wonderful sweets. I obtained a yogurt, banana, a ham and Swiss sandwich, and a muffin of orange cranberry. It was so good that I had to return and get an apple cake a block of 8 oz cheese. It was a wonderful stop. On the way I went through an ancient barn and a farm that was right on the road.

Old tree

Coming from the road, the path made an up steep climb to the top of Dana Hill. Around half of the first climb was what seemed to be the top of the old Volkswagen truck. I have no idea how I would have come here unless someone could push him from the top.

The path fell to another road and then once again made a climb and on another mountain with some open fields. When I went back to the forest there were huge trees and a tree that was probably 300 years old. That tree had sprouted a lot of baby trees around its base. I suppose that if the mother’s tree died, then the little sprouts of stump would take care. That is immortality

Today’s path has been up and down and then through a jungle for quite some time. It is quite steep climbing to the top of a hill and then going down from that hill, opening in a field of the farm. Many times you can barely see the path, it is a jungle. Just to cross a road and repeat the process.

Old road

The meadows while they were covered with weeds were quite beautiful. Many flowers, many interesting plants, and the wind blew high herbs like waves in a small lake.

The path then climbed another this time with a good bank and a view. Immediately after that there were two walls of obviously parallel rock an old road at the same time.

The path travels along this path. Before entering the forest and the shelter.
