Cristian, son of Francesco Totti, announces pension on 19


Cristian, son of AS Roma legend Francesco Totti, announced his retirement from football at the age of 19 -on Monday.

Although he did not give an official reason for the decision, various media reports claimed that the pressure of the son of a legend weighed too much on him.

Totti, a FIFA World Cup winner at Italy in 2006, spent his entire career on AS Roma, played more than 780 games and scored 307 goals.

He won the Serie A once and the Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana twice with the side and earned the nickname The eighth king of Rome (The eighth king of Rome) of the fans of the club.

Cristian, however, had a different process in professional football.

He started his youth career at Roma, but limited playing time-15 minutes in two U18-Zag moving him to Frosinone Primavera, where he once scored in four games.

He then had a short enchantment at Rayo Vallecano in Spain, while his most recent experiences include short spells with Avezzano & Olbia in the fourth division of Italy.

However, he constantly remained under serious criticism – especially body -shame – on social media, where some called him Captain Salsiccia (Captain Worst).

«He was treated as dirt because he is the son of Francesco and Ilary (Blasi),» Ninni Corda, the technical director of Olbia, had told Sportitalia In an earlier interview.

Cristian, however, will not completely like football. He will now work at the Totti Soccer School, founded by his father.
