Day 22
An important objective, outside the physical challenge that I have already mentioned, was to learn to read the maps better and plan routes. I wanted to try their luck creating a route and with this first attempt, it was a success and repentance.
The three converge in the upper part of the first climb of the day to about 2 miles along the path. The sun was warm over us and the rock field that we had left the path to explore. Already in the few miles we had gone, several spills had made the path more difficult to navigate and threatened to tear our clothes, skin and equipment. Plan B was not a fan of fallen trees and was beginning to agree with its disdain. Waiting for Burgs to arrive at the scene, I began to look at Gaia to see what options were available to us. Lihat juga ufdh. Surprisingly, I found some paths and short roads that connected, which finally mapped towards a lake and then returned to the CDT about 18 miles shorter than the red line.
I said the idea to the boys and finally we arrive at the consensus to take my alternative route. I was excited to take leadership on the route finding and planning a route, a skill that had expected to perfect while walking on this path. And here was my first chance. We start along the path until we reach the detour for the alternative route. I took Burgs and Planeo B through the forest, which wandered over what appeared to be an old truck road. It was slightly covered and still had demolition, but they separated and sailed more easily. Soon, we went to a ski route that was much more fixed than the path and we continue along a smooth high platform bordered by wood and full of rocks. What was even better was abundant water along the platforms and dirt roads that we continue.

The dirt road kicked us in a gravel path that led us downhill towards a camp. The road was exposed to the sun, which was warming again as the hours passed, but when I rounded the final corner of the road before the camp, I saw a beautiful view. There was a lonely picnic table in the shadow of a single tree just in front. I cut the road and lowered the end of embankment and then through the grass and to the table. I stretched my arms to the boys with a silent «tada!» And I was happy to see the appeasement at least on the face of plan B while we sat in the shade and began to get our lunches.

The rest of the afternoon was not so «tada.» We walk along gravel roads for hours under the hot sun with very little shadow or respite. We pass many cows and some currents on bridges. Two boys on bicycles of land even stopped to talk with us saying that their grandfather in a RV behind them can stop us to pick us up on the way. Even if he did not come or if he did, he did not stop our extended thumbs. I wanted to organize a small pity party, so I advance the boys and walked only until I finally arrived in the lake.
In a few minutes, the boys updated and plan B and quickly jumped into the cold waters. It was so refreshing after walking in the heat of the sun all day. I dressed until the water was up to my shoulders. Plan B floated nearby and Burgs sat on the shore. After a few minutes, my skin felt fresh and felt cleaner, so I jumped to dry on my tyvek. When I left the water, I felt something soft between my fingers and looked horror. There was a leech between my fingers! I held a squeak and deployed it frantically before I could join my foot. I ran to the private and checked the rest of my body by leeches and fortunately I was away from the additional self -establishrs.

Once dry, we got hooked on the road where it connected with the CDT on the back of a car with two younger girls and assumed that it was one of their mothers. They were relaxed people and provided good recommendations for the places to eat and visit while they were in Butte. We thank you for the short trip that saved us a few more miles from road walk and then turned to configure our tents. Only when I put my tent and went to take my bets, I realized that they were not anywhere in my backpack. Panic rose abruptly within me as the realization of what the lack of security today and in the future meant. But I quickly pushed him aside and laughed at myself. Well, I thought, I got into this disaster, I will have to be a big girl and handle the consequences. Although Burgs and Plan B offered additional store stakes, I raised my tent again and decided that it would be a jeans camp.

It was a punishment for me, but less so punishing and more, more testing something I had doubted to try, but now not having an excuse for not doing. I presented my tyvek and then placed my sleeping pad. I surrounded myself with my posts and backpack and then settled. He felt quite exposed and did not appreciate that the little mosquitoes buzzed around my head. But soon, when the sun set, the insects disappeared and I had to taste in the sleepy world around me. A deer galloped in the field beyond my feet. The clouds in a funky way floated when they turned orange in the light that fades from the sun. Then, the bright full moon rose in a short arch from behind a group of trees before disappearing quickly on a descending slope behind the next group of trees. But even hidden, it reflected a bright light in the sky. When I finally fell asleep, I woke up intermittently, completely stunned by the abundant stars in the night sky. It was magical. And then quickly became scary. The strong Coyote howls resonated in the nearby patch of the forest and froze under my sleeping bag with just my eyes. I knew I couldn’t hide, but I felt safer covered by my sleeping bag. I formulated an escape plan in case they left the forest, but fortunately their screams stopped and after the heaviness in my eyelids surpassed me, I fell asleep.
