Mohun Bagan Super Giant is expected to have Lalengmawia ‘Apuia’ Ralte available for selection for the Durand Cup match against Diamond Harbor FC despite an injury shock during a practice session on Tuesday.
The Indian midfielder crashed with Glan Martins during an Intra-Squad match, his left knee was pain and shortly thereafter hung off the field.
However, after performing tests, the Bagan medical team has given a go-ahead for him to play for limited minutes in the last group stage match of the tournament on August 9.
With the AFC Champions League Two that is planned later in the year, Bagan will gladly ensure that the player of the season in 2024-25 does not include a long-term injury in an invitational tournament.
Apuia, since his move from Mumbai City in 2024, has been one of Bagan’s most important players because it completed the Indian Super League (ISL) Double – Cup and Shield – last season.
He played 28 times for the club and scored famous the stop-time winner against Jamshedpur FC in the semi-final of the ISL Cup.
