The Oregon path
No, I have not died due to dysentery as in the video game … but there was a dysentery signal just before leaving that game message … quite fun! I just finished eating an Arce John and drinking a bakery chocolate milk in sisters or. That puts me in 1985 miles along the way. As soon as I end with this blog, I will hook the 12 miles back to the head of the path. Then there is only about 165 miles before reaching the waterfall locks and the bridge of the gods and stepping on the WA floor. The path on Oregon has been fabulous. Well maintained and with pine needle for a lot. There are still low increases and decorations, but they are classified quite well for the most part. Some places with water sources that extend, which makes it carry 2 liters of water, but the currents have been frozen and clear to replenish our water. Each liter is 2.2 pounds, so we try to minimize the water amuhieto that we have to carry. We have met some incredible people who perform paths in Oregon and their hard work really appears in our hiking. I am most of the road through a stretch of 14 miles to walk through a lava flow that is very different and more difficult to walk. I have to keep my eyes on the road and look where I so his feet. We had just walked through the desert of the sisters and there were thousands and thousands of butterflies that revoked around us while we walked through the meadows and the paths. It was surprising that all these butterflies came to you and then somehow flitning around you. The weather has also cooled, which makes hiking very pleasant. The peaks still have some snow and we even have to cross some snowfields from time to time. Nothing incomplete but still surprising considering that it is August.
We have a couple of iconic mountains to come. Mout Washington, Mount Jefferson and Mount Hood. We can see them in the distance and look incredible. We have had to walk through some burned areas of the fires of previous years and it is discordant to see what the landscape of the zombie apocalypse seems.
How are the knees and feet?
My knee is still very good! There are no problems and now I am about 835 miles along the path, so I am very satisfied with him. New shoes are great. The 4 concerns I had with my feet have been addressed and the blisters are turning Ito callos. There is still land on my feet at night, but not as bad as it was. I believe that a combination of shoe design and also the change in the path of the path has helped. My new logistics challenge is weight loss and loss of muscle mass by walking between 24 and 26 miles per day. I adjusted my food supply options to eat snacks in a couple of hours while walking. There are many resorts in forest lakes that the path passes, as well as cities like sisters. I am ensuring that I am eating milk, pizza and hamburgers/fried potatoes like these places to complement the foods I have. He is helping with my energy levels and also with the ability to walk more miles every day.
Path Tidbits:
Burney Mountain Guest Ranch is an oasis in the middle of No. Cal. Desert. Previously it was a horsepower that has become a hiker shelter. There are houses of bunk beds and private guest and laundry houses and showers in addition to the field of campaign camp. The main dining room has large wooden tables and breakfast and dinners are buffet style with a lot of comforting food, salads, fruits and desert. The ladies who cook are super nice and it’s like going to grandmother’s house to eat. Outside the dining room there is a salt water pool to swim or simply soak tired feet. Christine and Kyran are really making the place special.
The worst path conditions until now were just before and after the average fork of Feather River Gorge in No. Cal. 30 miles of the path were burned on a fire of 2020 and the burned trees fall down the path in large quantities and the brush plants have had the time to grow large enough to drown the path. The effects of fires can cause years of maintenance problems and are concerns with climate change. Climbing, low and around the blows can be quite challenging and exhausting. It was during this section that a woman was injured and had to be evacuated by the air of the mountain. Her husband’s herd and her pack were left behind and SAR (search and rescue) arranged that two hikers take one of their packages hooked on their own packages. Bombadil and Applaseed brought 2 packages through this incredibly difficult section for 2 days before they could reach a land forest road at the top of the Feather river canyon and give them to SAR.
We had about 3 interesting days just outside Ashland or. The first day, Big Mac and I were walking along the path and then the earth began to tremble …… Suddenly around the curve about 45-60 feet in front of us, a horse without a rider galloped along the way to us … Being the backpacks of the city we are, we freeze! Fortunately, the horse changed direction and screwed a brush thicket to the left and kept running … a few minutes later, 2 girls, one on foot and one on a horse came to look for the horse. All we could do is point out the mountain. We listen a few days after they were still looking for the horse …
The next day, Big Mac left the camp before me and found a little girl on the road … The Mist turned and lifted the tail, but fortunately Big Mac backed away before it could be sprayed … however, on the third day, Mr. Skunk’s friend, Mr. Wasp, put it in the area of the upper lip. The rest of the day Big Mac seemed Homer Simpson …
Another great place to stay is the Columbia Hotel in Ashlund or. They have restored the old hotel and is very friendly to the hiker and is in the middle of the city. Ashland is put at the Shakespeare Festival in Oregon every year and there are free concerts in the square between shows. Many people travel to see these shows the summer. Makes the city very festive.
Sisters is a big city in the center of Oregon with many stores, restaurants and bars. The city part has a very clean and accessible camp that has a section of motorcyclists/hikers to remain for only $ 10.
Crater Lake is quite surprising and I met a Texas boy who was taking photos at sunset. I was waiting for the light to be correct and when he started taking photos, I began to take photos … figurative, I knew what I was looking for.
Well in cascade locks. I’m going to take a shake along the city and start getting hooked. Remember to consider volunteering on a path near you, since the work is very rewarding and many hands are needed to keep the desert accessible to all of us.
Peace and happy paths!
