At first
So, this morning, Map, his wife’s wife of his wife, Slinky and I walked to the southern terminal with a constant drizzle/rain. After a great thunderstorm the night before everything was wet. The path was well maintained and we had a pleasant walk.
And we are out!
We start from Waterton under cloudy skies. For our pleasant surprise, the path was dry. There are no car washing bushes today! We push a good ascent and enter a new area of the new and beautiful lake. Through the clouds of rupture we saw new mountains and valleys.
We headed to the camp in Akamina to spend the night.
Day two …
I woke up with the shoes that created outside my store. Slinky was starting early. Map and shed quickly and start our search. It was a day of wildlife sightings. Deer, sheep Big Horn and the always dodge Mama Grizzly!
Bonus points If you can find the puppy in the photo! Map and I rolled in twin lakes and had sneak up, well rested and everything configured. Fast food and directly to sleep.
Day three …
This was a short day of 10 miles. In those 10 miles there were more mountain views and impressive rock formations. The landscape does not stop. Who is in charge of landscaping here is crushing it!
We ended up in Scarp Pass where we met Martin and Hope, also walking north. It was an early night of the bed since the next day was the coullette and Barnaby’s alternative.
Day four …
Up in the dark. An alpine start for a big day of climbing. The prognosis required winding conditions. After a lot of climbing and descending we arrive at the Coulette Summit. The options had to be done. Slinky chose to assume Barnaby’s alternative with Martin and Hope. (Find your blog in «Slinky» here on the walk) I experienced some vertigo at the summit. As a result, more anxiety was launched and chose to avoid the challenge. Being honest and vulnerable along the way is important. I felt comfortable in my decision to omit the alternative. It turns out that the main road was a different challenge. Several climbs of 600-800 feet in a row of the same descents, one after another. The land was quite challenging. ! MAP and finally we broke on an ATV without maintenance road and 10 miles later we entered the castle Mountain ski resort. Behold they had a shelter! Showers and beds were acquired. Ahhhh …
Day five …
There was a pleasant dream … We started with a 4MI walk and a climb to an old road. Slinky, Martin and Hope catch us and stories are shared. Seeing photos of his adventures makes my decision to omit the varnaby correctly. Too incomplete for me! Very proud of them to push through strong winds and great exposure revolts! The rest of the day is spent on the road, so fast walking easily. We managed to make 30mi for the day, putting ourselves earlier than expected. It was a long day and we all ate and we went directly to sleep.
City Day …
We woke up with the rain gently hitting the tents. We all pack and go to Coleman, Alberta. It was a fast 4mi walk on a maintained gravel road. Many city tasks were on our task list, but first, coffee and breakfast.
We will take two zero days (without mileage) here to wash the clothes, replenish our food and rest during the next 7 -day section. This first section has exceeded expectation. I can’t wait to see what follows.
