Day 61: For some miracle we arrive at Pa

On the 61st, we expected to reach at least the AMC Mohican outdoor center, yes, that AMC. They would have been 15 miles from our camp, and have snacks, a hot bar and air conditioning to sentence.

I was still feeling these sick symptoms quite a lot and ate the rest of my spring compression packages that I packed. The path of the path is repulsive and I didn’t want to have anything to do with that.

I felt good during the first hour, then my mood collapsed. I have been miserable for days. I’ve been crying for what felt more often not. I thought I would have to train again to eat again to overcome this funk. Trying to walk larger miles while forcing the food I hated, walking through the land I was starting to hate, and simply feeling hot garbage, I wanted to be anywhere other than the way. I was completely ready to give up this walk at that time. There was no way I could maintain this for the next two months!

He had lagged behind Nick for a few miles. Usually, it advances for a while, then stops and allows me to catch up. We did this several times, and I finally broke my silence. «I think I need a break on the path. At least through Pennsylvania.» This was the first time I expressed out loud that I wanted to leave.

Until now, this walk has approached both of us. We walk almost all the miles of this path in view of each other. Not for any other reason that we find the company of the other, and it is good to have someone with whom to share the small moments. And to warn them not to step on the red Etts that are crossing! It has been great to share this walk with my partner.

He told me about these feelings and acknowledged that he realized how unhappy I have been. I have not yet found a true purpose and reason to be here. We sat down for a while in Crater Lake with fish and frogs near the shore. I felt relieved to get these feelings while trying to eat Reese’s rapid rest.

We continue with our day, a little solemn, but finally we know we needed to move on. I promised that at least I would stay until we arrived at Harper Ferry, the «midpoint.» Maybe I would change my mind, although at that time I did not think it was possible.

We decided to take a Blaze blue alternative to take an easier walk. This section was not difficult; Sometimes it is sometimes an old Walk of the forest service sounds much better than following the path.

This detour took us through an old Boy Scout camp. The campus was huge and, unfortunately, abandoned and very shattered. He was on the shores of Long Pine Pond and his name was Camp Ken-Etiwa-PEC. He took us about 15 minutes from one end to the other, admiring what was once a bustling camp for children.

We continue until we arrive at the Mohican Outdoor center. It was 2 pm, so we had lunch. Some nobles arrived just after us, and we changed stories and plans for the next sections. It was still quite early and I could eat 3/4 of my naan pizza, so we decided to press ten more miles up to the Water Gap … Pennsylvania! We were going to do it before the end of the month, just.

Torrential rains spilled on us. I felt tired and stunned just before this, but the downpour encouraged me. He has not rained substantially in so long. Everything is dry and water sources are scarce.

It rained all of the last five miles of our walk, and when we crossed Penylvania, it stopped. The NJ/PA border is in a large bridge with great traffic. Normally, I would have taken a picture of this, but we kept our phones due to humid.

Our house for the night was in the church of the mountain shelter, located in, you guessed, the basement of a church. He received a deaf person and even had a hat that said «I am deaf, not mute.» They gave us the summary of the Church and how our future was.

The path has walked four times, starting in Georgia, this goes, but they decided to turn and get to Florida before it cools. They said the path is his retirement plan, and respect him. My favorite words of wisdom were: «The path is not easier now, it only takes less time.»

We missed the food of the Community Church, so we went to a super cozy place called Sango Kura, a place of elaboration of Sake. I have some chicken, potato and tofu salad. It was really delicious. I was still struggling to eat anything right now.

We curled up on some sofas for the night and expected that tomorrow I would bring us some improved symptoms.
