Since the last time I published, there have been many ups and downs. Despite being almost 800 miles on this trip, I still have problems with blisters and rubbing points. My feet seem to be broader, and even the «wide» version of the shoes does not seem to be enough. My wonderful sister -in -law led to Timberline Lodge to bring me more LeucoTape so that I could continue recording my feet. Meanwhile, I had to use KT tape that was not good enough.
Oh mi, heat
The last days have also been very hot, which does not help in the front of the ampoule. The walk from Santiam Pass has also had many burned areas, which means that there is no shadow of the trees. I had a low moment just south of Ollalie Lake Resort, where I felt so hot that I was dizzy, and there was no shadow or water at all, only burned trees. I sat in a rock and rested and wondered how long it would happen before the PCT burned throughout everything. What was the point of walking throughout this area of burns?
Interestingly, Huckleberries seem to like these areas. Everything else will burn a crispy and there will still be bushes with mature berries as a peace offering.
Ollalie Lake Resort is located in this main burning zone and has the few remaining living trees. They have no electricity but have a small store that works with solar energy. They told me they had ice cream, but someone lied to me. The camp area for PCT hikers was super full and we were crowded as sardines.
The mountains are calling …
Another area saved from fire has been Mount Jefferson Wilderness. This little green oasis had the dramatic backdrop of Mount Jefferson while we border its base. Camping in this area is restricted, which is not a surprise, since we would all camp here if we were allowed to do so.

Mount Jefferson, you could see Mount Hood, the next stop, in the distance. My heart sank, most seemed burned. But fortunately this was not completely the case.

Slack Pack To Timberline
As mentioned above, my sister -in -law had to bring me a blister tape and met me at Barlow RD, which is 5 miles south of Timberline Lodge on the mountain. She generously offered to drive our packages to Timberline Lodge, which allowed us to make the final stretch without a package. This was huge, since the last 5 miles involved some climbing with some of that in loose sand. The best magic of the path of all time!

So here I am! Timberline Lodge. My husband kindly found a room here and made a reservation. It is an old rustic and quite expensive cabin, but it is still surprising to take a shower, load and wifi. Timberline Lodge has no air conditioning and my room on the upper floor was too hot.
My next step will be Cascade Locks, which is just south of the Oregon border in Washington. PCT Days is an annual extravagance and hikers are arriving from everywhere to participate. Normally, I would not attend something like this, but I heard that they can repair equipment …
