Up and on Saddlebacks

Day 113-15 Miles today from me Route 4/Maine Roadhouse to Perham Stream Stealth Site, 5000 feet higher, 4300 feet from below, 1993 in Mile Marker

Food path magic

We spent the night last night in Maine Roadhouse, who was one of the most pleasant shelters on the path. We arrived a little later at night after a very fast walk yesterday from 17 to 4.

We stopped in Rangelley’s tourist city and got a meal.

Knockerz had bought many of my replenishment needs at the last Walmart until the end. I couldn’t wear all that food. So I filled the hiker box in Maine Roadhouse with a lot of food that knew that hikers would appreciate greatly. I also left a box there to spend in two days when I returned.

Heavy package

After days of walking with an extremely light package, I knew I would load in the future. He felt strange to have a complete backpack while climbing the saddlebacks.

I went to Eddie Pond. It was a gradual climb, but there was a good boulder involved. And I scared a huge rabbit.

My original goal was only 10 miles today, but I changed that to try to press to make this section in two days instead of two and a half days.

Near the pond was a source of water that was supposedly one of the last good sources of water for a while. I stopped for a lunch and grabbed two liters of water. I will carry this water with me on the climb up and on the Saddleback mountains.

Back in the Alpina area

The first climb was 1500 feet and almost 2 miles in the Alpine area. Being back in the Alpine area reminded me of whites. The views were spectacular.

From Saddleback Mountain I could look at the descent through a small valley to Horn Mountain forward. It would be in the Alpine area to the other side of the horn.

Up and on Saddlebacks

Boulder

The path fell from the horn and then climbed to Saddleback Junior Mountain. That climb was a lot of boulder. I was getting tired of Boulder.

Aseña, the path finally climbed a really pleasant stream. He had many little waterfalls and swimming pools.

Home

Today I had a late start, so I thought I could be walking in the dark. After the waterfalls, the path at first rose very abruptly through a rock face. He was getting late and was tired.

Finally, the path was leveled in a obstructed forest road with a gradual inclination to the place where I planned to prepare for the night, Perham Stream. I configured my tent in my lovely place immediately adjacent to the babbling stream to spend the night.
