Giroud will be the oldest Ligue 1 goal scorer after scoring Lille against Brest

Veteran striker Olivier Giroud took only 11 minutes to score on his return to Ligue 1, but it was not enough because his new side Lille went on Brest 3-3 on Sunday.

Giroud was selected by the smart pass of Felix Correia behind the defense and ended with a left shot under the goalkeeper. The 38-year-old Giroud became the oldest score of Lille in Ligue 1 and he went through the entire game.

Midfielder Hakon Arnar Haraldsson brought the score to 2-0 before Kamory Doumbia scored twice to level the game. Lille regained the lead halfway through the second half when Ngal’ayel Mukau scored after a corner, but Julien le Cardinal was right.

Paris Saint-Germain will start later on Sunday with his title defense with a trip to Nantes and traveled without goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who said he wants to leave the club and is connected to a move to Manchester City.

Giroud came to Lille after a disappointing spell with Los Angeles FC.

He previously made his name with AC Milan, Chelsea and Arsenal – the club where he came to Montpellier after winning the French title in 2012 and scoring 21 league goals that season.

Giroud is the leading men’s scorer of France with 57 goals and won the World Cup 2018 with Les Bleus.
