A man arrested on suspicion of racial abuse of Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo during a Premier League match was released by conditional bail, the police said on Monday.
The police of Merseyside said that the 47-year-old from Liverpool cannot attend a football match in Great Britain or go on a bail within a miles (1.6 kilometers) of a football stadium in Great Britain.
The man was arrested on suspicion of a racially exacerbated public order after Semenyo, who is black, reported to the referee that he was racistly abused by a spectator in the first half of the Bournemouth match against Liverpool in Anfield on Friday.
The man was removed from the stadium shortly after the alleged incident, which led to a short stop in the game. An investigation «keeps going and we continue to work closely with the club,» said Merseyside police.
On Saturday, Semenyo, a 25-year-old Ghana International, thanked Bournemouth teammates, the players of Liverpool and the football community as a whole for the «overwhelming messages of support» that he received after reporting that he was being racially abused.
Semenyo played the entire game and scored twice after the alleged incident in the 4-2 loss of Bournemouth for Liverpool.
