Trail sections: Salema → Light → Lakes
Distance: 10.5 km + 10 km
Days 11 and 12 on the path of fishermen, Portugal
It is difficult to believe that the end is here.
These last days on the path of fishermen in Portugal were slower, shorter and somehow even sweeter. I felt dragging my feet, trying to hold on to every moment a little more. After ten days of salt, sun and cliffs, I didn’t want this experience to end.
Ponta da Piedee: the grand final of this spectacular path.
Fisherman’s path in Portugal Day 10: Salema to light – 10.5 km
Today he took some logistics reflection. As my car had collected in Sagres earlier this week, I needed to move forward to Lightwhere we would be finishing our walk today.
So, while the family of the path (Sandra, Oliver and Orion) packed in our apartment in SALAMEI led to light and parked near the accommodation of Sandra and Oliver. Then I asked an Uber to a small beach where the path of the fishermen crosses, and waited for them to join me.
P.S. If you wonder what attracted me to the path of the fishermen, I wrote everything about it here!

A rare change of rhythm: commercial path sneakers for four wheels (only for a moment).
Enjoying some time on the beach alone
He felt like a luxurious pause, only on the beach with nothing to do more than breathe. I went to the sun, the music playing, slowly tanning in my sports bra and my underwear. I watched the waves rolling, hit the shore and sprinkle in the sky as a great end. There was a kind of magic at that time. It seemed that the ocean was doing a show only for me.
In a short time, the rest of the crew arrived, and we started walking together again. The path led us A set of coastal ruinsHidden in the cliffs, disturbing and beautiful in their decline. We also pass Incredible geological formationswhere it seemed that bubbles had been pressed on the stone, small texture pockets and time.

As a private concert by the sea, only me, the sun and waves.

As the earth had exhaled in stone, the bubble pockets of Tiny frozen over time.
Mandatory ice cream stops and new path name
Today’s land was soft, but the heat was something else. The air was thick and motionless, without breeze, only sun. We wandered through a small and lovely coastal city just before LightAnd he immediately got into a cold water store, snacks and a very necessary heat break.
But the best decision of the day? Dividing a Ice cream tub Among the four. Trail Magic, in a cone.
When we approached light, the atmosphere changed slightly: more buildings, more people, a little more polished. But the views were still impressive, and we were rewarded with A delicious Indian dinner That gave the place. One of those meals where everyone is calm because food that good.
Ah, and update of the name of the path: I can officially go «Sudor Bigote» from now on. Does anyone else get those? Only me? Cool.

Know the «sweat mustache.» New name unlocked. 😅
Fisherman’s path in Portugal Day 11: Light to Lagos – 10 km
And so, it is my last day on the way. Only 10 kilometers, and wanted to taste every step.
The route began soft but soon developed more than the previous sections. Even so, it was beautiful in its own way. More signs of civilization, coffees and points of view made frequent stops, and was not angry at that.
The highlight today was absolutely Ponta da PiedeeOne of the most emblematic coastal reference points in Portugal. Impressive limestone cliffs, natural sea arches and endless views on the horizon. We spend time here soaking it. He felt like a final love letter of the path.

Ponta da Piedad: Great end of nature. Soaked until the last view of this final section of the path. 💛
From there, the path enrolls LakesAnd slowly you go back into the rhythm of everyday life: cars, people, city sounds. After so many days of waves and wind, it was almost overwhelming.
We grab Chocolate and espresso gelatowandered the last blocks in the city, and as well as that,We had finished.
A final photo, a final toas and a final sigh of gratitude.

Chocolate + Espresso gelato in a cone of gofres, because each path deserves a sweet ending. 🍦🇵🇹
Reflections
This path has been a joy. It is not resistant or remote as the PCT or Colorado path, but does not try to be. It is a different type of experience: full of beauty, ease, connection and movement. You wake up in a cozy bed, you walk a few hours, jump in the ocean and spend the night enjoying fresh fish and green vinho with friends.
If you are looking for a path that gathers nature, comfort and community. The Fishermen’s path offers.
I will take this for a long time.
Fishermen fisherman in Portugal: complete. 🇵🇹🐟💛

Complete path. Fisherman’s path, Eras Magic. 💛🐟 Grateful for every salted mile and for these beautiful humans by my side.
Final observations: what I learned after 12 days on the path of fishermen in Portugal
1. These are a hiking holiday instead of a walk.
And there is nothing wrong with that! You have no heavy food, or tent, without water filtering. Every day ends with a real bed, fresh food and maybe even a cold drink.
2. Cafes and bakeries are part of the culture of the path
One of the most special parts of the Path of Fishermen in Portugal is how integrated it is with local life. You are not in the desert, you are walking through Portugal. Espresso in the morning, cream cake, seafood dinners, green wine … food was such a cheerful part of the experience.
3. It is not about speed, it’s about soaking on
The distances are not long (10-20 km most of the days), but the path invites you to reduce speed. Swim, snacks, sit alongside the sea, take deviations and stretch their days like a lazy cat in the sun. The best moments were the ones that we did not hurry.
4. You are walking on the edge of a continent
There is something powerful to be so close to the ocean, every day. Some parts are windy and wild, others are quiet and glassy. The cliffs, the sand dunes, the caves reminded me of how vast and alive is really the earth.
5. It is discreet, but it is still challenging
This is not a paved and paved coastal walk. Some days were hot, exposed and steep. The sandy dunes Save their energy (the polaros and the recommended trekking posts!) But everything is feasible and deeply gratifying.
6. Pack Light, Happy Walk
You really don’t need much. Leave the camping equipment at home, bring the sandwides for the sand and plan the clothes halfway. The lighter your package, the more you will enjoy each step.
