Arvind Iyer appears winner in All India Chess Masters Mumbai Fide Classical
Arvind Iyer has been crowned champion of the All India Chess Masters Mumbai Fide Classical Tournament to finish with seven points in eight rounds to eliminate Darsh Shetty in a strong competition.
Both Arvind and Darsh even ended with seven points each, but the first won the championship at Super Buchholz Tie-Breaks.
Shetty finished second, while the third position was claimed by the international master Vikramaditya Kulkarni, who collected 6.5 points.
The winner received a cash prize from RS. 40,000.
In the Ladies category, the female candidate -master Kriti Mayur Patel was assessed as the best player, followed by Reya Banker and Pradepa Jayapal who were second and third place respectively.
Vinod Chaturvedi was the first to finish in the category of the veteran, followed by Guru Prasad Patil and Ashok Govindrao Patil in second and third place.

Priya Malik bags silver on World Under-20 Championships
Priya Malik, a world champion under 20 in 2023, picked up the silver medal after he was attached by the European world U-20 champion Nadiia Sokolovska in the 76kg final of the ladies in the world under the World Under-20 Wrestling Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria.
In Greco Roman, Suraj (60 kg) fought back to beat the Frenchman Lucas Lo Grasso 1-1 through criteria and a bronze medal.

India wins team bronze at world championships Youth Archery
Indian Archers claimed the Onder-18 Recurve women’s team Brons while staying in medals in four other team events, including three finals, at the Youth Archery world championships in Winnipeg, Canada.

Heena Kang wins Maiden Pro Title on 11th stage of WPGT
Heena Kang crossed great weapons with eight holes, but had to suppress a late load from Lavanya Gupta to get her first pro title on the 11th stage of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour, here Friday.
Weena, who was fifth on her pro debut last month, was chased hard by amateur Lavanya in the Prestige Golfshire.
Lavanya, who started the last day two shots behind Heena, had fallen behind five shots because she was 4-over in turn. And then there was a large load from Lavanya, which the 11th, 14th and 16th birds.
Ananya Garg, who was six behind the leader, in the beginning, had a rough start and went three-over in the first five holes. Yet she fought back with four birdies.
She birded the seventh and ninth and added two more on the 16th and 17th. She ended the day with the best card of the last round with 1 under 71 and was in Sole Third.
Jasmine Shekar, who played in the leadership group, struggled on the front nine with a six-over piece with four bogeys and one double. She had two Birdies and a bogey on the rear nine and carded 77 to finish fourth.
Neha Tripathi (73), Amateur Riya Jadon (74) and Ananya Datar (75) were in fifth place at 223, while Amateur Mannat Brar, the co-leader after day 1, and Agrima Manral, both with 76, were tied to the eighth on 224. Ridhima Dilawari Dilawari.
Vani Kapoor stays in second place on top of the hero order of merit with Ridhima. Jasmine, Neha and Amandeep occupy the third to the fifth places.

Sandhu prevails above Udayan in Marathon Playoff for back-to-back victories
Yuvraj Sandhu prevailed over Udayan Mane in a marathon play -off that lasted five extra holes to win the PGTI Players Championship on the Clover Greens Golf Course and Resort on Friday.
Both Sandhu, the overnight by three shots, and Mane, who was second at night, ended the regulation 72 holes with identical totals of 28-under 256 who pushed the game into a dramatic play-off.
Kshitij van Delhi Nveed Kaul (68-67-64-66) delivered a 66 in the final round to claim third place on 19-below 265.

Sharma and Ahlawwat have a difficult start at Betfred British Masters
Veer Ahlawat was the better of the two Indians on the first day of the Betfred British Masters, his 1-over 73 was only good enough for linked place.
Shubhankar Sharma with 2-over 74 was T-89 and stared at another missed cut.
