Son Heung-Min did not last long to make an impact on Los Angeles FC (LAFC).
Before he makes his expected home debut against San Diego FC on 31 August, Lafc will visit FC Dallas in Frisco, Texas, on Saturday evening.
Son, in his first Major League Soccer (MLS) against the New England Revolution, will start a place in the team of the competition day as his help with the stop-time goal of Mathieu Choiniere, helped a 2-0 victory for Lafc (11-6-7, 40 points).
It also ended a winless streak of three games in competition match for Los Angeles (0-1-2), making it an end to the Seattle Sounders for fourth place in the Western Conference with 10 games and two games in hand.
According to Lafc coach Steve Cherundolo, SON has had minimal difficulties that adapt to MLS after a decade with Tottenham Hotspur from the Premier League.
«Judging by his smile he brings every day to work, I see no problems,» said Cherundolo Thursday. «He looks very happy and he plays well, and so I think it has been a good transition for him.»
FC Dallas (7-11-8, 29 points) is in 11th place in the west, three points behind San Jose for the ninth and last play-off place in the conference with eight more games.
Dallas saw a 1-0 lead slipping early in the second half and settled for a 1-1 draw at in-state rival Austin FC.
FC Dallas hopes that a return home is what it needs to return to the win -column. That said, it’s only 3-8-2 in Toyota Stadium.
«We know that we have to start climbing and maximize our points from now on,» said Dallas head coach Eric Quill, according to Big D Soccer. «(We must) be at home and not be afraid of the opponent. That is what we preached this week. We have our own ambition, regardless of the club we play.»
Petar Musa, the most important scorer of FC Dallas (13 goals), was forced to leave the match against Austin due to injury.
Lafc set FC Dallas, 2-0, on July 13 when Nathan Ordaz and Denis Bouanga scored the first half goals.
