Washington greets me with rain
My first night in Washington, a strong storm arrived. He began to rain at the time I went to bed and was a torrential downpour throughout the night. I kept awakening the sound of what seemed that someone took a fire hose at the top of my store. I would verify to make sure the store had not flooded. My reliable Dursten X-Dome went very well and kept me dry. I have decided that she needs a name and called her Vivacia after a ship in a book that I am reading (well, listening).
All moisture did everything so green!
The first days in Washington have been quite cloudy and mourning, and therefore took several days to completely dry the storm.
Speaking of books …
While it may be frowned upon to listen to the headphones while walking, I find that it is often necessary in the afternoon. Those last 5 to 6 miles often seem endless. Interesting, I have noticed that this happens regardless of the distance I am walking. In other words, if I have 25 miles to walk that day, the last 5 to 6 are very challenging. On a day of 10 miles, the last 5 to 6 seem equally difficult.
Anyway, tape books help with a bit of distraction. I had been listening to the Robin Hobb (live merchants) epic series that took me about a month to pass. Now I am staggering for another series to listen and I am open to suggestions. You need to have a good reader and if it is a series, all books must be available.
Deep in the «bubble»
Since all timed their walks during the PCT days, the last three days have had a lot of hikers along the way. I still managed to get a camp every night, but sometimes it is a challenge for a flat place.
On the other hand, an advantage of being in the bubble is the large number of magic of trails. My best experience so far involved a woman stopping as she would cross the road and ask if she needed something. When I told her that I needed to collect my charges, she invited me to her guest house and told me to do at home. Then he left and told me that he could show me and walk back to the path (as 0.25 miles). I connected my cargo bank and used the time to make some hot food in the kitchen and take a shower. A shower. AMAZING.
I also had a tank coffee and its super nice Tibby cat in their truck, and found two refrigerators with random ice drinks at the intersections of paths/roads. I have been told that this will not continue during the rest of Washington, but it was pleasant while it lasted.
