Premier League 2025-26: Aston Villa-Ellende continues 3-0 home drinks by Crystal Palace


The gloomy start from Aston Villa until the season went on when it crashed 3-0 to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday-the first home defeat in each competition for 10 months.

Palace thoroughly earned the three points, dominating after the penalty of Jean-Philippe Mateta gave them an early lead.

England defender Marc Guehi, coupled with a move to Liverpool, brought the score to 2-0 with an excellent finish after 68 minutes before Ismaila Sarr closed the victory for the visitors.

Palace’s first victory of the season after two draw has raised them in eighth place, while Villa of the second soil has one point of their opening of three games and still has to score.

«Every game he brings something new, and he is a fantastic player. I hope he stays with us,» said Mateta about Guehi.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner said that man-of-the-match Guehi, 25, was vital for the team.

«This is our captain. We have to keep him. I told the chairman (Steve Parish). I love Marc, he is such a professional player and such a nice guy. It’s for the future of Crystal Palace. We have to keep him,» said Glasner.

Villa had been unbeaten in his last 19 home competitions, a streak that lasted more than a year.

Palace was the last team that defeated it in Villa Park, a 2-1 victory in the League Cup last October.
