Newcastle United signs Yoane Wissa from Brentford to replace Alexander Isak

Newcastle United completed the signing of 55 million pounds ($ 74.30 million) of Brentford Striker Yoane Wissa shortly after it was confirmed that his Sweden attacker Alexander Isak had arrived at Liverpool for a British record transfer costs.

The 28-year-old Dr. Congo International has been the number one target for Newcastle, because it became clear that Isak wanted to move to Liverpool, which he did for 125 million pounds.

«Yoane is a player we have been admiring for a while, and we are pleased to be on board,» said Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.

«He brings the proven Premier League quality, not only demonstrated by his goals, but also by the crucial work he does for the team,» he added.

The earlier bids from Newcastle for Wissa were rejected, which encouraged an impasse between the player and Brentford.

Wissa scored 45 goals in 137 Premier League performances for Brentford after arriving from the French club Lorient, but did not speak this season when he held a move.

Last week he issued a statement via social media that begged Brentford to allow him to become a member of Newcastle.

Wissa, who had left his contract for two years in Brentford, will stimulate the attacking options of Newcastle after two of the three Premier League matches this season ended 0-0.

«I am really happy to be here and to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League,» he said.

«I am very, very excited to put on the black -white shirt. I have dreams, I have confidence, and now I will do my best to make it all happen. I can’t wait to get started,» he added.

While losing Isak is a blow, Newcastle enjoyed a positive transfer window with Wissa, the second striker to participate after it had paid a club record costs for Germany International Nick Woltemade of VFB Stuttgart with a six -year contract.

It also added Nottingham Forest Winger Anthony Elanga, Aston Villa -midfielder Jacob Ramsey and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
