A football match between France and Luxembourg teams under 21 was postponed on Friday after the bus with the visiting team was involved in a traffic incident in Brittany.
The game had to be played in the city of Lorient as part of the European Under-21 Championship Qualification Campaign. The French football federation said that it was again planned for a location to be determined before 3 October 2026.
According to the local newspaper Ouest France, the coach who wore 33 people has in a road along the road on Thursday near the city of Languidic. Eight people were reportedly somewhat injured in the accident, including four players, three employees and the driver.
«We extend our full support and wish a quick recovery to the members of the Luxembourg delegation that are wounded and traumatized, as well as to the bus driver,» said Philippe Diallo, the president of the French football federation. «Faced with this unprecedented situation, UEFA, in coordination with the French and Luxembourg delegations, wisely decided to postpone the competition until a later date.»
